On Saturday 3rd April, over 90 children took part in the Young Ummah Challenge at Green Lane Masjid. The aims of the event were to let children experience new activities, learn something about Islam and build brotherhood via the team setup. Eight teams competed on both an individual and team basis to see who could score the most points in eight events. Every child had equal opportunity to try a number of events, which included penalties, golf putting, jenga, a quiz and basketball. The event ran smoothly thanks to the help of eighteen volunteers, with all children participating and having a fun day. The day was concluded by a short reminder on the importance of prayer, followed by prize giving for the top performing team and top three individuals. All children were given two inspirational CDs (Honouring the Parents and Aiming for the Stars) along with some sweets as a send off on behalf of Young Ummah.
